.: GINKGO BILOBA
The Ginkgo biloba tree has antique origins and records of its properties being used in Chinese medicine date as far back as 2800 B.C.
Originally, the sap from the leaves was used against toothache, acne and also some infections.
The extract of the dried leaves contains:
- 24% glycosylated flavonoid (monoxides, dioxides e trioxides from quercetin, kaempferol, isorhamnetin) and bioflavonoids such as procyanidin and prodelphinidin.
- 6% of terpene trilactone such as Ginkgolide A, B, C, J, M and Bilobalide
- Other substances such as
3-Amino-4-Hydroxybenzoic acid,
3-methozy-4-Hydroxybenzoic acid,
ascorbic acid, etc.

.: HYALURONIC ACID
Hyaluronic acid is one the fundamental components of the connective tissues in the human organism and in other mammals. Chemically it is defined as a glycosaminoglycan from the unbranched polysaccharide chain produced from the aggregation of thousands of disaccharides formed from residues of glucuronic acid (product of glucose) and N-Acetylglucosamine. The function of hyaluronic acid in the organism is to maintain the level of humidity, turgidity and viscosity. It is also able to efficiently cement, buffer and lubricate the cells in order to prevent damage from physical stress.

| Description |
TRIUM® eye drops is an ophthalmic sterile solution containing synthetic HYALURONIC ACID and GINKGO BILOBA extract.
TRIUM® eye drops is a product that substitutes the tear film and has its activity is specific in protecting the cornea cells and re-establishing the normal functionality of the ocular surface after surgery or due to traumatic conditions such as deep corneal ulcers or erosions.
Ginkgo biloba is a complex of flavonoids (24-26%), such as quercitin, kaempferol, procyanidin, prodelphinidin, etc. and of terpenoids (5-6%) such as gingkolids A, B, C, J, M and bilobalides) that have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective properties.
Ginkgo biloba extract contributes in:
1. Accelerating the re-establishment of the normal tear secretion;
2. Alleviating inflammatory symptoms such as stinging or acute pain by inhibiting the pro-inflammatory proteins;
3. Protecting the cells from apoptosis and from damage to the DNA caused by oxidative stress; Ginkgo biloba possesses evident antioxidant properties that performs scavenger activity against free radical damage;
4. Protecting and increasing trophic action on nerve cells.
This last property is particularly important since the loss of sensorial innervation of the cornea following surgical procedures is the main cause of tear film dysfunctions. |

| Product Use |
TRIUM® eye drops is a tear substitute that stabilizes and reintegrates histologically modified cornea surface. The product is useful following excimer laser treatment and in qualitative and quantitative modifications to the tear film.
Hyaluronic acid is a mucopolysaccaride able to adhere to the eye surface and protect, moisten and lubricate the eye. Due to its mucoadhesive characteristics, it remains on the eye surface and is able to stabilise the tear film and give relief in all conditions of dry eye.
Ginkgo biloba extract is commonly used in many branches of medicine, has properties that perform antioxidant and protective activity on the eye surface.
N-Hydroxymethylglycinate (N-IG) contained in TRIUM® eye drops is an innovative amino acid that in association with EDTA is an efficient preservative and is without negative effects on the eye surface.
