LUTEINofta^® - LUTEIN as a dietary supplement for nursing mothers.

LUTEINofta^® is a product made up of the rational association of lutein and vitamin E, characterized by a particular formulation which guarantees slow and continuous release of its active ingredients LUTEIN and vitamin E, via controlled release.
Lutein thus helps to maintain the functioning and integrity of the sensitive structures of the eye (retina, iris, crystalline lens) preventing or minimizing damage caused by free radicals.
It has been reported that in physiological conditions, the quantity of antioxidants in the blood of pregnant women, in particular lutein and vitamin E, increases and a positive relation has also been found between the antioxidant potential of maternal and foetal blood.
It has also been demonstrated that lutein is present in maternal milk.
It can therefore be held that lutein administered to the mother can help improve the antioxidant protection of the foetus and newborn, important defences for all tissues, but particularly for the eye.
Vitamin E is one of the most powerful antioxidants available to the body, which
safeguards the integrity of tissues and functional physiological reactions.
Vitamin E, in synergy with lutein, binds and eliminates free radicals which are largely responsible for the decay of many delicate tissues following damage to their cell membranes. It helps to reduce the risk of various diseases and to safeguard the metabolic integrity of the eye tissues.

FIELD OF USE:
LUTEINofta^® is indicated in the case of an increased need for those nutrients which it contains or in the event of reduced dietary intake. LUTEINofta^® can be particularly useful in the prevention of damage to the retina or macula due to excess free radicals, or where greater protection against oxidative stress is required.
LUTEINofta^® when taken as a precaution by mothers, can help to improve or prevent damage from oxidative stress both in the mother and the foetus or newborn.

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION
One tablet per day, to be swallowed whole with water in the morning.

CONTRAINDICATIONS
LUTEIN and vitamin E have no contraindications and can be used by any age group.
